Hi, the restaurant I work at has Micros 3700 and recently some dishes we have put in the computer get cut off on the kitchen printers because the font is too big. Is there anyway to change the font size so the whole dish can be printed on the kitchen receipts? Thank you

Also we have been trying to add suggested gratuity onto checks. Yet we have some computers that only handle deliveries and others that handle the dining room. Is there a way to set it up for only the stations that handle the dining room can print checks with suggested gratuities on them and not the delivery ones?

I don't know of or see any dip switch settings that allow different font size. The only way I know of the different font size is in the configurator for each RVC to Print "Double Font" or "Double Wide".The double font only applies to IP printers and is found in the Order Devices Options under the general tab. I do not know for the 3700, but the 9700 system the above is true, hope that helps.

As for the gratuity on the checks, you would have to set that through a SIM script and tell it to only print when Workstation XX and XXX is used. Not sure if the 3700 system can do this.

OK Thank you very much! I'll see if I can do that! Also there is something else no one has been able to help me with. We had an older system where you could input ingredients that came in certain dishes so that when you hit an item on the prep screen that was already in a dish, a note automatically came up that said to remove the item from the dish. This saved a lot of time in writing custom messages. Do you know if it is possible to do this on micros 3700 also?

Thats called conversational orders, and it's a massive pain in the butt. If you're determined, I would suggest using the help program to read up on it. There isn't great documentation on it; even the class videos on it aren't that informative.

Also, you can't really change the way things print in the kitchen without writing your own printing system. We've had a customer we did that for, but they had to pay us quite a bit to get it done. Took a while to get it just right.

Take a look in the configurator; Devices tab => Order Devices button => Options tab => Sorting Formatting tab. There's an option labeled "Print Single Wide". That will reduce the font size and print all 16 characters in the menu item name instead of cutting them off at 12.

I haven't used conversational ordering, but I agree with Moregelen in that it seems like a huge pain. Just reading through the limited documentation on it made me decide to not even try it on my test system.
