hi dgillz,

Me too got the same prob, i want to execute reports on client without installing scr on client pc...i am using scr 8.5 developer edition, my environments are visual basic 6.0 and sql server 2000...our platform is win 2k professional

should i make my reports executable to achieve this? or are there any other solutions...

looking forward for ur prompt reply...thanks in advance :)

2 options for v8.5 developer. Download the report compiling and distribution tool, which gives you the ability to create a .exe of your report so users can run the report, but will not have the ability to change the report in any way. The download is here:

Another option is to buy a report viewer. There are several reviewed on Ken Hamady's website at

hi dgillz,
thanks for ur reply,
one more thing i wanted to ask... i downloaded the exe and i read the readme file and i am reading the pdf as well. there is this thing MDAC which is for db connectivity (i guess). in my project all reports all reports data keep on changing.
do these executeable reports fetch data whenever they r called or do they just display the data with which they were made executable?

thanks.

Hi dgillz,

I got it...sorry for that dumb question :) one thing more, i can call this report from my vb program ok, so is it possible to skip the screen which comes when u execute the report so the user dont have to see the options box every time...also can we adjust the options thru code...

bye and take care, ur really helpful :)

I did not realize you were using VB. That being the case a lot of what I said is not entirely accurate, and you need to post this question in the Crystal Reports 3 - Integration forum.

If you are calling from VB you DONT want to use these executables, and you don't need them. You can call them directly from the code. There are 4 different ways to launch reports from VB.
