I have a W2K server set up as a VPN server. I have Netgear FVS318 as my router. I have not been able to access the server through the router. My ISP provides a static IP, but it is held in the Covad modem. is there a way to work the forwarding so that that IP address is the address I dial into? Im a bit confused at this point, so I apologize if this question is not very specific. I just need a point in the right direction.

nevermind everyone, I was closer to the solution than I thought. All I had left to do was open UDP port 500.
thanks

Limberwolf,

I am struggling to get the FVS318 connected to the W2K Server.

Do you have any links, or could you post some config details for the FVS318 please? I would be very grateful.

I am having exactly the same problem as DodgyDave. If anyone could tell me the "How To's" of confiugring the Netgear FVS318 firewall I would be greatful.

What issues are you having exactly? I am not using the router to actually do the connecting, that would only permit 8 users. I have the W2K server set up so that I can have as many users as I need (about 40). what errors are you getting when you try to login?

I'm not getting any error messages. I don't know how to configure it for VPN trafic at all. I've never worked on a firewall before and never configured one. I got the very basic setup. Since I installed it I cant see the BT router's configuration page connecting the business to the internet and I doubt any VPN traffic can get through from outside because I've not configured the firewall for it. I haven't had a good look at the link provided by DodgyDave yet but I will as soon as I get a chance. It seems as thought I have the same setup as you limberwolf. I have about 40 users, two servers and only the BT router and a link onto one of the switches connected to the firewall. Basically I think I need step by step kind of information in order for me to do this the right way. If you guys are willing to help I would more than appreciate it.
