how do i know what "perc" i've got on my 2400???

i put my "server assitant" cd in and it gives me EIGHT options for (what i know is) the adaptec scsi controller?

i opened the box, does it say what it is, on the inside?

you bet it don't!

this is what the controllers look like, in device manager...

ok, the application and driver choices narrow it down a bit...

to 4 choices...

2,
2Si,
3Di,
3Si

???

On reboot, hardware (& especially SCSI) components will show on screen. Will be able to read which controller is on board.

its ok, i ended up avoiding Dell helpful software completely...

got to it from computer management and disk manager...

right click on the drives and i could set up raid from there...

used 1 disk as independant shadow for the sys drive and setup 3 of the remaining disks as raid5 for the data disk...

think it was a 2si in the end...
