How do i install SAMBA in Redhat 9?

download the rpms from samba.org for Samba 3, or use the rpms from the RH9 isos for Samba 2.

Type rpm -Uvh {exact name of samba rpm} or a wildcard match

rpm -Uvh samba*.rpm

Samba might already be installed,

rpm -qa | grep samba

i did checked with "rpm -q samba" and it got "samba-2.2.7a-7.9.0"

Does it means that samba package is installed? Now how do i configure it in gui interface?

I managed to install samba. From windows PC i can see the workgroup name where linux pc belongs, when i double clik the group name all i get is error message saying Workgroup is not accessible. The device is not connected.

most likely samba is not configured correctly. Paste your /etc/samba/smb.conf here
