Hello everyone.

Ok, I've all the files downloaded for openbsd 3.1.

How do I install this.?

Thanks

Actually, all you need is the boot floppy of floppy31.fs. If you boot off that and you have that machine connected to your network or any internet connection, you can just walk through the install and the setup will go out and find all the OpenBSD mirrors for you. It's really quite simple.

Dear brain71.

I have an adsl connection to the net.

This is the only machine I have. used to win 2k, Now I created the floppy.
booted from the floppy.
first I would have to connect to internet to install the openbsd.
But I guess I would need another pc first to have a connection to the net.

how is freebsd in comparison to openbsd?

Thanks

If you use the OpenBSD boot floppy it will prompt you to enter your network information (IP,Gateway,Mask). As long as your DSL is up you should have no problems. I just did this at home with my DSL connection and my OpenBSD boot disk got me connected and I installed a recent snapshot.

You may want to wait until next week. The next release version (3.2) is set to be available after the 1st I believe...check the openbsd.org site.

Matt
