I have this user who tries to connect to a remote Terminal Server machine but is refused connection and given a "you do not have interactive logon rights on this machine" errror message.
Is the terminal server on a domain, or is it a stand-alone server?
If it is a domain member, find out if the user has the correct permissions in the group policy.
If it is a stand-alone, does the user have an account, and is he a member of the TS-users group?
Also, since this is Windows 2003, is this a "real" terminal server with Cals and the like, or is this a server in which users log in using the Remote Desktop function of Windows 2003?
What is the error that is reported to the event log of the TS? That will give you a starting point. Also, what are the differences between this user and any other user that can access this account?
The question of the "real" terminal server still stands. Is the current setup of the terminal server at "application" or is it defaulted to the standard install (administrative setup)? If it is application, what type of CAL's do you have? Are there any CAL's available to the new user?
