How Do I Get Lots of Buttons? 1

I am implementing a communications system for a railway. Part of this involves providing telephones in the tunnels.

The customer's prefered solution is that the telephones autodial to a specific extension in the control room, terminating at a digital phone with extension keypads - the idea being that each tunnel telephone terminates at its own button on the phone (or extender).

The problem is - so far as I have been able to discover, the maximum number of buttons I can get is 40 (one Ergoline 340 phone with 2 DSS extenders) and I have more than 40 phones. There isn't room to have 2 phones, and a PC-based solution isn't going to fly

Has anybody come across ways of doing this - e.g. 3rd party phones with more buttons, some "hack" that allows more than 2 DSS units to be added, some other solution I hadn't thought of?

(oh, it's a Sopho 3000 system, btw)

Hi forestian,

look to the documentation of D340!

excerpt

Options
· DSS (Direct Station Select) modules offering an additional 14 programmable
keys per module. Up to three modules can be connected to an ErgoLine D340
giving a total of 12 (blue keys on the phone) + 14 (DSS) + 14 (DSS) + 14 (DSS) =
54 programmable keys. Each key can be programmed with 2 functions or 2
speed-dial numbers, or 1 function and 1 speed-dial number. The DSS modules
are field installable and require an external power supply.

That's total 42 + 12 = 54

Good luck for you

Seems the NEC-Philips person gave me less than adequate information. Silly me for believing a salesman.

Three DSS modules will give me all the buttons I need, which greatly relieves my mind.

Many thanks for that.

HI all,
I dont work on philips sopho from 3 years.. but If I remeber well, on ergoline you have 12 buttons, and under one button you can put 2 function, in total you can use 24 speed dial or 12 extension monitoring and 12 speed dial, only the first function is able for turn on the red led

Hi lele222

thats right. Look to the excerpt, there are 54 key's with 2 levels.
I think ferestian needed for each telephone an separate key.

If it isn't necessary, the 12 of D340 and 14 from 1.DSS are enough, thats total 52 possible speed dial key's.

Have a nice day
