I want to solve a problem with Windows not releasing drive letters after stopping USB drives. I have two Win2K systems. One does not have the problem and I wish to copy mountmgr.sys from it into C:\winnt\system32\drivers on the system with the problem. Trouble is that Windows won't let me.
I will have a Ghosted system copy handy before trying this so please don't concern yourselves with the possible dangers of what I am trying to do.
Does anyone know how to twist Windows' arm so that the desired file transfer can take place?
