Be picky and be sure you talk to people before you sign any contracts. Stray away from Gold partners if you require technical consultation, they only require a low level of sales to gain gold partner status. Platinum requires high volume sales and 4 on staff NW6 CNE's, 2 on staff CDE's and 1 on staff GWCNE + they are required to go to x amount of training hours and are require to either attend brainshare or present at brainshare. So their cost will be much higher than Gold, but you can be certain you will get a proper solution.
However here is the only Platinum Partner in my area (Orlando, FL). I'm not sure I can trust the person that built this website with my stuff. Again... the website is purposely hard to navigate. When will these people understand that if they want business they need to make the site as simple as possible. :/
FL just doesn't have much in the way of Novell resources, not even Gold partners from my search. It may be questionable if this company has much of a client base in NetWare.
Just get the phone number and call them.
Ask for references from recent Novell related projects. Certs are easy to get and do not reflect experience and real world networking knowledge. If they are unsure of references, then they may not be the ones you are looking for.
You don't have to have a local company. Only about 30% of my jobs require me to be on site, and thats normally for meetings and training, the reast is just actuall hardware upgrades. I don't always, but I am capable of doing 70% of the work remotly (mostly just go on site to give the customer my "presence". You can locate a partner further out, DC would have very good partners, so would west coast and north east coast. They can just do the work you need remotly, and you can fly them in for work that needs on site visits.
Now . . . about that web page. Holy Cow! IMHO - it sux. But hey, we've all had web sites that sucked. You've taken the first step towards recovery. You've identified the problem. You've admitted it to yourself and others. Sometimes, that's the hardest step, sam.
