How do I find out which machine belongs to which ip on a windows nt domain. I am running a port scan of all the machines in my network at work, some of them have ftp ports open (some are hp laserjet printers). I have the ip addresses of these machines but I would like to be able to resolve these to a dns name, is there a tool that NT has that would do this, or is there a was to get a list of the address that belong to active computers on the network. The client ip's are assigned via dhcp and they do not change very often....

Any help would be appreciated...
Troy Williams B.Eng.
fenris@hotmail.com

You can check the WINS server database if you have one running.

Also check the DNS server database. Active computers can be seen in the DHCP server list as active leases.
Zel
zel@zelandakh.co.uk

Windows NT has NSLookUP which can be used to resolve either addresses to DNS names or DNS names to addresses.
