I am trying to track the MAC address of a device on our 3Com 5500-EI switch.

We have a device on the LAN taking all DHCP addresses, and it is plugged into our 5500. I want to find the port the device is plugged into. Any Ideas?

Sure install 3COMs free Network Supervisor, do a network discovery and then search the MAP for the MAC address. Once found trace the link back to the 5500 and it will tell you which port it is on.

I hope this helps,

From the CLI enter...

'display mac-address xxxx-xxxx-xxxx'

Where xxxx-xxxx-xxxx is the MAC address you're looking for.

The command can be run from any view. You'll get back the learned port - but be aware that if the device is on another switch connected to the 5500 you'll get the aggregation port back.
