How do I fade between one picture and another

Hi,

I'm new to Flash MX and I would like to know how I can produce a fade effect between one photo image and another. I want to produce a professional looking slide show.

I've tried creating a motion tween between one graphic symbol and another but I can't get it to work.

Can anyone help?

set alpha value of both instances and make a motion tween
at start one is 100% and other 0% at the end other is 0% and 100% alpha! It is essential to have the pictures in different layers!
Alternative do it with a mask and alpha values
