Hey all, got a question here..

Just recently I've been seeting folks up with Lotus Instant Messaging inside of Notes instead of using the Sametime client. Here's where the problem is, on some of the users at the inbox view next to each name you see their IM status (green box, yellow diamond, etc..) and on some you will only see that status if you actually open the email. I've looked in all the preferences and options and can't seem to find anything that would enable/disable this. Any thoughts?

JBoss,

I'm guessing that, at some point, you upgraded your users' mailfiles to a template that offers IM awareness, as you have some working. What mailfile template are you using, and what server & client? Is your Sametime server installed on top of Domino, and is it using LDAP or a Domino directory? (I know, you were asking the questions, not me, but these make a difference :)).

I'd run the load convert tool to convert the mailfile - as opposed to a normal design refresh/replace; it just works better for me. (Needs to be a 6.5.1 or later mailfile design). You might want to check this out, though:

which suggests that the notes 6.5.x IM client isn't perhaps up to the job - you may get this working & then have a different set of issues!
