How do I edit the actionscript in an swf file without exporting?

I've recently created some flash .swf files for my website, but after making and testing the swf files, I found a screwup in one of the actionscripts, I would like to be able to directly edit the swf file's actionscript without having to decompile, then exporting the script, as I have no means of re-compiling it.

I have swf decompiler, but I can not directly edit the script, is there a program available that would allow me directly edit the swf's actionscript then save it back to the original swf file?

I used flash MX to create the swf files. I've already looked at swfquicker, and there's nothing there to directly edit the actionscripts, then re-compile them back into the original swf file.

I used swf decompiler and that shows the actionscripts in a list, but it doesn't allow editing, only exporting the scripts.

You don't still have the .fla files from which the .swf were based?

No I don't, I deleted them, as I thought the .swf files would be ok, but only one of them has an error (not a script error) but a value for a variable I used is not the correct value and the output of the frame that has the action script with the incorrect variable value, doesn't display right.

It's said that one learns by ones mistakes, I definately won't delete the .fla file(s) until I'm sure the .swf file(s) are working correctly.

That's definitely a bummer. I can't think of an instance where I have ever deleted my original files. You just never know. I don't think you are going to be able to get to that script without the original files.

Oh well... live and learn.

Wow JT that almost looked like you knew what you were doing!
