How do I disable firewall?

Hi, - I have a friend running windows 98 SE and everytime he uses his web cam he gets a message "Behind a firewall".
Soooooooooooo, he wants to know how to disable his firewall. Sorry I canot tell you much more than that.
Any ideas please.

Is this pc in an office, or a dorm, or something of the sort?
You're very likely in a setup where administration has disallowed any outgoing connections.

Carr - Thanks for the speedy response. - his pc is stand a lone in his house. Last time I saw it was a year a go but just plays with it as a hobby.

I'd say you need to go look at the pc and see what's installed, then act according to what he's got in place. Seems strange that he'd be unaware of a firewall on his machine.

Thanks Carr. - - Going to drop him an e-mail now and will ask him for some feedback. All that he has told me to date is that each time he activates his web cam he gets the message - "behind a firewall" - hey, could it be that the person that he is trying to webcam be behind a firewall? - - Just a thought. I have never used webcam so pretty ignorant on this.

You and me both. I'm just stabbing at what I think would be reasonable trouble spots. I wouldn't think the message would pertain to the other end, but it might.
It's also possible that the problem lies with his ISP, as they may have something in place, or have ports blocked. Worth a try...

I have just e-mailed him asking for more feedback. Also told him if he has an icon for firewall to RIGHT click on it and if it allows him to disable then to LEFT click on it and do so.
