Hi everyone, I like to know how to disable certain programs from loading up during startup. You know like for example, Anti-virus programs or that sound blaster Live programs that load its icon in the task bar. There are so many things that load upp during start, its slowing my computer down.
I know how to do it for Windows98/Me but Windows2000, Im stuck.

Run regedit, and go to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

The items in here are what you're looking for.

Most antivirus software has the option to load or not load - I recommend changing that option in the software rather than a registry edit.

This does NOT affect services.
