Hi,

I know this is a simple question, but how do you create perfect horizontal/vertical lines with the line tool? For instance, in Adobe Illustrator the user holds down the SHIFT key. Is there a similar feature in 3D studio? By the way, I'm working in 2.5.

Thanks,
Dan

Trying to remember what working in 2.5 is like. But in 3.1, along the bottom of the screen, underneath the viewports, you should find a series of buttons. One of which is the 3d Snap Toggle. Click on that, then right-click on the button. This will bring up the dialog box for the snap toggle. Just make sure the checkbox for grid is on.

Then when you have the spline tool selected, just snap two points to the grid of whatever viewport you are drawing in, right-click to finish the spline, and you should have a perfectly straight line.

Hope this helps.

Jer,

Thanks. That makes life much easier.

you can also just hold down shift to snap to 45 degree angles once you've begun to draw your line.
