How do I create a Static ARP entry on 3640

Hi,
I need to set a static ARP entry on my 3640 running IOS 12.1.5YA.
Can anyone tell me the command line to execute.

ARP IP-address MAC-Address whilst in Configure Terminal Mode comes back as an imcomplete command.

All help urgently appreciated,

Your on the right track when you see the incomplete command just type ? it will give you more options.

arp 192.168.0.42 00a0.c90a.eb4d arpa ; pick the correct last parameter- I used arpa as the example

Thanks for your advice. Ihave now added a static ARP entry. Thanks for your patience with this particular novice.

Do I need to reboot for this to take effect?
If had done a typo how would I choose to remove the single address that I had just entered?

Sam- it's active once you hit the return key

to remove the command

no <command entered>

so in this case

no arp 192.168.0.42 00a0.c90a.eb4d arpa

I know that the router has the capability to use Dynamic ARP does this work in conjunction with the static table or are these two approahes exclusive in operation?

When we moved to our new circuit the FW manager wanted static entries but the ISP techy told me that they were not really needed.

Is there someway that I can check whether Dynamic ARP is also running and available?
