How do I create a new Primary DNS Server

We need to blow away our primary DNS server for numerous reasons.

We intend to move everything across to a new server which we want to be our Primary DNS server. Is this an easy procedure as stated in Technet or are there any minefields I should need to look out for? If I want to create this new server as my Primary DNS server do I need to stop the DNS services on the old primary server first?

is this from NT to 2000, NT from NT or 2000 from another 2000 ?
