How do I creat a vert scrollbar for a left hand frame?

I have wasted too much time tring to figure this out! It seems like it should be so simple. I am building a site for an illustrator, the page is split into three frames: the top frame is for navigation/title, the left is for thumbnails, and the mainframe is to display a larger image of the selected thumbnail. How do I insert a scroll bar into the left frame. I have tried extending the table well below the monitor's screen area but that didn't work. Does DM (MX) have a feature or do I need to hand code it, and if so how.
