How do I convert convert the '-display' command

Not sure I really follow you here, the "-Display *" is only setting a string (db2_command) to that value. It shouldn't need converting.
My suspicion is that it is going to issue the display command to the subsystem (DB2?) and process the results. If this is the case then what you are probably getting an error on (if you are getting one at all) would probably because the BMC frontend that is getting in the way. I would ask the DBA what is happening. Usually these things boil down to security *wink*
