How do I connect to ISP to get e-mail with Exchange Server? 1

I installed MS Exchange Server on a NT Server and was able to create mailboxes for all users and installed the Internet Mail Service. It dials up to check mail but never gets the mail. It disconects. I spoke with ISP and they said that a pushmail program was needed. Where do I find this. No luck so far.<br>

I had the same problem with exchange when I was setting up my server. When you use dial-up to send and recieve, Exchange can not recieve unless your ISP supports Exchange's ETRN protocol. The ISP needs to have a place to hold messages until your server dials out to get mail. If your ISP doesn't support this protocol then your only other option is to have a dedicated phone line that will be open at all times to recieve directly to your Exchange server. You will need an static IP from your ISP for this to work.

There are also other utilities available. If you do a search on popbeamer you will find other sites with Exchange utilities.

I use WinNT and Exchange 5.5 on a home server, with my own domain name, on a static dial up line<br>

Normally, this would be a problem with web site hosting and the domain, however, with a program and utility called DYNDNS (

you can use a static IP for all your domain needs. You should, however, have a dedicated phone line for the email access so that you can receive your mail immediately<br>
