As the title says I want to know how I can clear the threat history logs in SAV 10.x. I have a user that has had so many threats on his machine that I literally cannot open the log to look at it. I have left it sitting there trying to open the log for 2+ hrs and it never fully opened, I can see the progress bar moving but very slowly. At this point anything in the past I could care less about saving and just need to see logs from recent periods to be able to keep track of what's happening on his machine.

TIA,
Rich

Cant you logon locally to the machine and highlight all in the history and then delete them. Are you trying to open the history locally on the machine or from the SSC console?

I am trying to view it from the SSC console. I might be able to get onto the machine, view the history and probably delete the files associated with each logged event. Haven't really thought to try it from the workstation. However if I delete the files the logs are still showing data in them, how do I clear out all of the events? What's slowing it down is when it trys to show the history items, it dies trying to load the list.

I would think if you delete it off of the local machine you should be ok. Havent ever tried this for I havent had a need to. But give it a try....

Not sure I'm being completely clear here...

If I am sitting at a workstation and I open up the threat history locally I can see a bunch of listed threats that were caught. If I select a bunch of them from the window and click delete it offers me the option to delete the file that was quarantined. But, even after doing that these events are still in the log despite deleting the files. I want to know how to clear the log itself.

Well, guess what....I figured it out on my own.

Anyone stumbling across this thread wondering the same thing the solution is to delete the files in this folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5\Logs
