Hi all Cisco professionals,
I encountered something strange of a flash memory for Cisco 2500 router. It displays a 4mb flash, but when I put this "4mb" flash into another router which has got an 8mb flash in the 1st slot, it displays 16mb of flash memory. At one time, I saw 3 partitions (8-4-4), but wouldn't display this again, so I can not use the no partition command to remove the two 4mb partitions. Can anyone help me to make it as a single 8mb partition?

Thanks very much.

Hi stoney66,

Thanks for your help but I don't see a format command for a 2500 series router. Any other suggestions?

Step 1 Enter privileged EXEC mode:
Step 2 Enter global configuration mode:
Step 3 Enter the partition {slot0: | slot1:} [partition-number] [partition1-size] [partition2-size] command:

For Example Router(config)# partition slot1: 1 8 X

The partition size is expressed in (MB).

Route once; switch many

To display the contents of a Flash memory card, enter the show {slot0: | slot1:} command

IE:
show slot1
Route once; switch many
