Hi everyone,
I want to transfer messages, time table and lists from my
outlook to another computer. How do i copy all that ?
Where do i find (which folder) those files on the disk?
Thanks !

Presumably you are not connected to an Exchange Server which holds the messages etc (if you are, you should just need to connect to it from the other PC).

So, assuming your messages etc are all held in Personal Folders in Outlook, right-click Personal Folders and choose Properties. Then click Advanced and it will show you the path to the file. It will probably be something like C:\Documents and Settings\{your username}\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst.

I think you can just copy that file to the other PC. When you start Outlook it should pick it up if it's the default filename (outlook.pst).

If it doesn't pick it up, let it create an empty set of Personal Folders then use File -> Import and Export (on the new PC) to import from the copied Outlook.pst.

Either way, I think it will only bring over the content (messages, tasks, calendar appointments etc), not your settings. It won't bring over any auto-signatures either. If you do want to transfer these, I find the easiest way is to put them in an email and save it to Drafts. This will come over in the .pst file and you can just recreate the auto-signatures on the new PC.

Also, please please make sure you Outlook is working on the new PC and has picked up all your transferred data before[/] you wipe the data from the old PC. I wouldn't want my suggestions to cause you data loss!

In order to backup a PST file, Outlook must be closed since it will have a lock on the file.

I would recommend that you use the free tool Microsoft has published for this purpose.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
