How do I associate extensions with particular ports on IP Office?

Hello all,
I find it rather difficult to associate ports on the IP 406 Office to particular extensions; in other words, I cannot assign a particular port to a particular extension.Once the extensions are configured in the IP Office, they can be connected to any ports?
I also found out that the Extension IDs cannot be changed, can they be assigned to partiular extension numbers?

Anyone with ideas? Haven't really worked on IP Office that much but I kind of like it's user-friendliness

If a user profile number matches a base ext number they will be linked auto.

A feature of the ipo is that you can log user profiles on to different base exts.

When you create a User, you can assign that user to any Extension port. Or you can create a virtual User and not assign it an Extension port and use this virtual for Hot Desking or forwarding or whatever.

Thanks for your responses, doesnt matter whether is it IP or DCP? I'm talking about DCP phones. for instance if you add 30-port DCP module to the IP Office Control unit, the extension IDs may start from....say 195-224, does it mean that ext ID 195 is port 1, logically?

Yes.

There is something in existence called the matrix, its an excel file with loads of handy stuff in including a port matrix.

I don't suppose there's one of these for the IP500 yet?? I'm guessing it would be difficult becuase of the different modules that can be put in the base unit.

then you can see a lot about an extension and port etc etc etc
