How do I assign an IP to a network printer?

Hi

I am about to connect two network printers to my small network (which is on Small Business Server 2000). The instruction sheets with each printer do not explain anything. However it seems as though I just plug them in to a network plug and then run a CD that comes with each printer. However I will have to assign each printer with an IP address. How do I do this? Will running the CD prompt me to add an IP address then? As far as I know I do not need to do anything on the main server pc, as the printers should automatically be seen. However each printer must have an IP address, which is something I'm not sure how to add.

The two printers are:
HP Laserjet 1300n
OKI C5100n

Any help or experience of how to do this will be much appreciated. Thank you very much for any help.

...I forgot to ask... on which pc should I run the CD for the printer? Can it be run on any local pc or should it be run on the main server pc?

Thank you again for any help.

No direct experience with either HP or Oki printers, but do have a varity of brands connected to my network.

In all cases, yes, the setup CD (wizard) will prompt you for a port. For the IP option check "Local port" but clear "Detect printer". On the next page select "Create a new Port" and the drop down box should offer "Standard TCP/IP port". After giving it an IP address the rest follows pretty much the normal setup.

I think if you stup the printer on the server as a share, you can more easily setup the client PCs. I currently run a Novell network so am a little vague on Windows.
