I'd like to adjust the time that WinXP automatically logs off the user and requires the password to be re-entered.
Thanks in advance!

I am no expert but I find that mine does this based on the settings in the control panel. If you click on display, you can change the settings under "monitor power". I changed my so that when it is plugged it, it stays on a long time, but on battery, it kicks out much faster.

Hope that helps!

I thought this was what it was as well but I don't think its it. I think it's somewhere else.

Here's some leads to check out.

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - Q314999
HOW TO: Force Users to Quit Programs and Log Off After a Period of Inactivity in Windows XP

Start, Run, secpol.msc Look for 'Force logoff when logon hours expire'

Its the screensaver.

Check the registry:

In Regedit go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

Check the following REG_SZ values:

ScreenSaveActive = 1 (0 = No Screensaver)
ScreenSaverIsSecure = 1 (for password protection w/ user PW)
ScreenSaveTimeOut = 600 (for 10 minutes)
SCRNSAVE.EXE = C:\Windows\System32\ssmypics.scr (or desired screensaver file name)

Note also these can be set under:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop
for when no user is logged on.

You can right-click an empty area of the desktop, Properties, Screensaver, and adjust the 'Wait' time and the necessity of a password.

I will try this with my customer and see if the screensaver is what the issue is.

Thank you for your responses.
