I added a field in the Order entry screen called quote # and I want to be able to see this field or something similiar in the Order Header file when I view history but there is no way to modify the screenset oehdrinf to do this .. Do I have to use Flex or is there a better way. We are trying to put in Customer quote #'s on each order that is different from Invoice and Order #'s

By the way we have Sql 7.6.400b and Thank you in advance you guys in here have been awesome over the years!

Please elaborate. Did you add a field to the table or to the screen? Why areyou not using the quote function built into Macola and converting it into a real order? What edition of Macola are you using? Progression or ES? Pervasive or MS SQL? And what version and service pack?

Sorry.. I added the field on the screen for Order Entry

I wasn't aware of any quote function built in.. but anyways we use an outside program (SALESFORCE) and then type the order in manually into Macola when the order is received.

We Are using the Progression SQL 7.6.400b and its MS SQL - SQL server 2000

Thanks again

I would love to know what - if any - integration you have with salesforce.com.

Back to your question, adding a field to the screen does not mean it will be stored in the database. Why are you adding a field? What are you trying to accomplish?

We don't have any intergration with Salesforce at all thats why we need to create a custom field in Macaola's order entry to be able to put in custom Quote numbers from Salesforce.

OK when you add a field to the OE screen again this does not mean it will be stored in the database, it depends on what you do to "add" a field. What exactly did you do - step by step - to "add" a field?

To clarify, if you went into design mode and right clicked and choose "add entry field", this does not add a field to the table. In fact adding a field to a Macola table is very dangerous and should not be done unless you also have the source code and are prepared to modify it.

You can add additional tables to the Macola database without issues, but in order to bind a new entry field to this table you would need Flexibility at a minimum.

You would probably be better off using on the the user defined fields that are in many Progression tables. To expose these fields from the screen designer, just right click and select "unhide" and pick the user defined field from the list.

If you do this there is never a problem, whatever you put into the field on the screen will be saved to that file in the SQL database.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Ok I am making progress.. I was able to do this on the form for the TRX->Order entry page to add user defined field 5 for example.. but when I try to make that field appear on the corresponding screenset OEHDRINF it says "Macola Screenset cannot be changed"

Thanks

First, copy the screenset to user SUPERVISOR, which can be changed. Then as before, right click and select "unhide".

By the way are you familiar with the MACOLAED screenset?

So then how do I get all my other USERNAMES on the system to see this same ORDER VIEW? Do I have to now create a new screenset for all 50 of my users?

And no I dont know what the MACOLAED is

Thanks again I am almost there!

That is exactly what screenset MACOLAED is for - so you don't have to maintain modified screens for everyone. If there is a screenset specifically for user BOB, he will get it, if not he will get the MACOLAED screenset, if it exists.

But I want everyone to access this new screenset? How do I make this change universal?

Copy the new screenset to user MACOLAED. That's it. The user MACOLAED doesn't even have to exist.

As usual DGILLZ you are the man! Now its working!

Can you let me know who you are working with in regards to Macola and Salesforce.com integration? I have a pending project that requires this.

We have no intergration with Salesforce as of now.. but if you figure out how to do it I would love to know how and about how much you charged your client for this.

You have already purchased salesforce.com, and THEY are not helping you to do this?

Please advise.

Also I would like to tell you how to convert a quote to an order if you are interested.

Yes please tell me !

Ashman,

I was looking to you for help on this one. I have a customer that purchased salesforce.com and they need to integrate it into Maoola. I will be getting into this deeply in the near future. I have another thread on here regarding exactly this topic, if you are interested you should subscribe to that thread.
