Hello, I'm using a no longer supported internet appliance running freeBSD and no one knows the password. I got some instructions from the company, but that's all they'd give me as it's no longer supported.
I was able to boot to single-user mood and change the root password, but I can't get to a login prompt to login as root. (the instructions say to simply reboot and then login as root) When you reboot it starts up all the services and stuff and then just sits there at the last service (starting local daemons: ups).
I tried telnet, rlogin, but both are just some sort of proxy service with no login.
How do I get a login prompt? is there a keyboard shortcut or something I can enter during boot up? I also tried 'su' while in single user mood but that didn't work either.
I need to change the ip on the box like now because of an isp change, but can't log in to the admin screen. Please help!
