how can obtain weigh from scale with serial rs232 port

I need know the way to obtain weigh from scale with rs232 serial port using api under VBA .
My pc is win xp pro , and excel is from office 2003
The actually setting of comm port are the following:
baud = 9600
parity = none
Data bits= 7
stop bit = 1
flow control = none

That is what I'm talking about

Matching the channel settings is only the first step, you need to comply with all the protocol.

You need to send specific commands to the scale, and the commans need to be framed in some way (may be some packet start char and some type of CRC ending the frame). The scale will send you back the weigth, framed in a similar way.

Only the scale manual can tell you what the needed commands and the frames are. Protocols uses to vary not only between brands but sometimes between models too.
