Hello everyone.

Ireally need to update my cvs and ports collection but I can not seem to be able to get through the firewall.

I have already tried the

cvsup -P m /ports-supfile

and the windows comes up after clicking the > arrow to start, saying the the sever can not be found. Basically I know that my system can not access any site or IP or ftp out side of our network without the use of proxy.

Is there any way to use and update the cvs throught the web or http

Thank you all

Also I should point out the

cvs -d :pserver;proxy=121.15.222.232;proxyport=8080:anonymous@cvsup6.FreeBSD.org:/ login

cvs [login aborted]: Proxy server 121.15.222.232 does not support HTTP tunnelling

So much for that.

Can anyone help

Did you edit the supfile and change host "CHANGE_THIS" to something like host "cvsup3.freebsd.org"?

I'm behind a router too, and I don't have any trouble.
I did before I edited the supfile though...lol. Hope I was of some help...

thanks but that was the first thing I did.

cvsup6.FreeBSD.org
I have already changed that.

The thing is that I can not access any http or ftp site from the shell.

We have no direct connection to the internet. Eveything is going through the proxy. Hence i have internet access but cvs tries to contact cvsup6.FreeBSD.org directly and it does not work.

thanks anyway

did you set the defaultrouter in rc.conf? Hope I was of some help...

Still strugelling to get my ports updated for my server from behind the firewall.

The freebsd server is running 5.0
It can access Internet using the proxy server.
It can however not access cvs rep.

This is the output I get.
BSD51# cvsup -P m /root/ports-supfile
Unknown host "cvsup6.FreeBSD.org"
BSD51# cvsup -g -L 2 /root/ports-supfile
Parsing supfile "/root/ports-supfile"
Unknown host "cvsup6.FreeBSD.org"

there must be a way to be able to tell cvs to use the proxy server.

Hope you can help.
Thanks much

Trying to do the portupgrade from behind a corp firewall and there is simply no way to do this.

Looking around on the net, there are a lot of people with the same issue.

Isn't there a workround to simply tell cvs for its updates use the proxy server with a port number?

thanks much.
