Go to Start - Programs - SQL Server... Do you have an Enterprise Manager? If you do then you have Enterprise Edition, if not, you don't. :)

I DON"T think that's correct.
Enterprise Manager is a client tool.
i have developer edition installed at home, and it also has Enterprise manager.

Anybody else?
Thanks!

if you execute select @@version from one of the sql tools - or from any odbc type tool - it will tell you the version and type. For example:

Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.194 (Intel X86) Aug 6 2000 00:57:48
Copyright (c) 1988-2000 Microsoft Corporation
Desktop Engine on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 1)

or

Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 (Intel X86)
Dec 17 2002 14:22:05 Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition on Windows NT 5.0
(Build 2195: Service Pack 2)

Note the first one... boy, it needs to be upgraded to sp3! <grin>...

I have SQL 2000 Pro. and it has Enterprise Manager. For that matter, we have several 2000 machines with Enterprise Manager on them that don't even have SQL Server on them, we just use them for remote management of all of our SQL Servers.

Curtis, a star for you!! can't believe i haven't checked @@version!
watch out for the slammer, and thanks!
