How can I stop messenger pop-up messages? 1

I have recently purchased a laptop and have put XP on it. The one really annoying thing about it is that I am being bombarded with pop up messenger spam.

Is it possible to turn this feature off as it's more trouble than it's worth to me

Hi

Go to control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services and disable the 'messenger' service.
