How can I stop hidden layers showing when I load a page

I have a number of layers on my page which are hidden on page load, but for a couple of seconds they flash up. Is there a way to stop this?

That would depend on how your are setting them to be hidden?

JS? CSS? both? something else?

I've figured it out, I've change the visibility and it's working.
