Can anyone advise on how to sieze a channel on a PRI circuit for testing, I know it can be done just don't remember the process.

I have used a Maintenance set with LD 36, for analog, but never tried PRI....

Triton101 is correct, in LD36 it can be done on a PRI!

Just remember, that when you seize a channel for testing on a PRI, you may not actually end up on that channel!

If you don't believe me, run this simple test. Turn on your DCH messaging and get into LD 60.

"select" a trunk and get dialtone. Is that local dialtone or the far end??? It is LOCAL! Stat your T1 in LD 60 you will see your channel idle, and did you see anything over the DCH? Nope....;-)

Now take a channel and disable it on the far end. Now select the channel manually on the LOCAL side. Hmmmm..... you get dialtone! Now make a call....Wow it goes through! Look at you DCH messages and you will see the setup message happening on another channel.

So...... Just because you 'select' a channel on a PRI, or you get 'dialtone' on a channel, be careful! You may not be getting what you think you are getting!

another way if you just want any channel on a route is to dial the acod.. as long as you do not have a tgar/targ block it will happen.. ld 36 works, but i usually used the acod for a quick test...

I SOMETIMES CHANGE THE SEARCH TO RRB TO HIT EVERY CHANNEL ON THE T BY DIAL 9 THEN THE NUMBER. AFTER TESTING MAKE SURE TO CHANGE IT BACK. OF COURSE THIS SHOULD BE DONE AT SLOW TRAFFIC TIMES TO MAKE SURE YOU HIT EVERY CHANNEL
