How Can I send break to get OK prompt, if I am using
dumb terminal and the key board does not have STOP key. Thanks

If you have root privileges, use init 5. Much cleaner and safer than halting the OS.

I am trying to install OS on the machine and need to get
to the OK>

reset the machine right after it get done doing the memory check. Then press stop and the letter a at the same time.

sorry did not read first post. I feel dumb. But init 5 should work.

Doing an [tt]init 5[/tt] will power the machine down. You need to do an [tt]init 0[/tt] to get to the [tt]ok[/tt] prompt.

Also, how to send the break character depends on the make and model of your dumb terminal. You need to look it up in whatever documentation you have for the terminal.

Hope this helps.

You can use init 0 or do a CTRL or SHIFT + Break if you are on a Windows hyperterminal.

what type of terminal do you use? Wyse? My wyse terminal uses ctl-x and next 6 for break sequence. Try to get a Doc about this terminal type and search for "break signal". Or post your exact terminal type.

Best Regards, Franz
