I'm trying to activate LDAP Authentication for Users on our CS1000M/7.5 in UCM. I've made the configuration changes and in order for the LDAP Authentication Scheme to work 'LDAP Users then Local Users' I have the run the following command via CLI session within the Linux Base.

/opt/nortel/3rd_party/security/current_s1is/swmgmt/bin/pctrl_s1is.sh restart

This will be my first time initiating a CLI session to the Linux Base and unsure from reading the AVAYA admin guides on how to initiate a session.

How can I Putty into the Signaling Server? Telnet/SSH or a Console connection using the ADMIN2 credentials?

I have 18 years experience in SL1 CLI interfaces and use Putty everyday but have little experience with the Linux Base interface of the CS1000M on 7.5 Rls.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

In your Putty config enter your host IP, the Sig Server IP. If you do not know this go into the UCM and see what the IP of the Element is. Use port 22 and connection type SSH. I actually started using ZOC instead of putty.

Telnet has to be allowed in the linux base so yes SSH is the way to go. Putty works great and yes use the admin2 credentials. Once you successfully login it will come back with the FQDN of the server. Then you are ready to go.

Thanks, I was able to get the 'LOGIN AS:' prompt using SSH but didn't actually log in. I read where I have to successfully log out or I will be locked out of the Signaling Server.

From what I can tell, I need to type 'logo' when done session then <Shift><~> then <.> then type <exit> to successfully log out of the Linux Base.

Is that true with CS1000 7.5 Rls?

That information you posted to logout is on a CoRes machine after you enter the cslogin prompt. If you are just going into the linux then the exit command will do the trick.

Ok, I'll try that on Monday. In the event things go South I don't want to spend Friday night trying to get back into the SS.

Thanks!

Now we have a CP-PM card in our PBX which I was under the impression was a CoRes setup.

So that being the case I would use the commands I earlier stated??

A CPPM card can be CoRes but not always. A CPPM card is pretty universal. It can be a CoRes with a hard drive, it can be a VXWorks Call Server with a Compact Flash or it can be a standalone Signal Server with a hard drive. The only way to tell for sure is by the version when you type ISS in LD 22 what type of machine you have. Good call on not doing this on Friday.

Logged into the Signaling Server Linux Base today as Admin2 via putty and got the FQDN, everything working well. I tried to restart the Security Service to enable the Authentication Role setup in UCM and got rejected. The NTP states to us the Root account but I don't have a Root account on the CS1000 that I know of. Could the NTP's be taking about navigating to the Root level once logged into the Signaling Server via Putty?

Here is the command getting rejected. The actual response from the CLI is "restricted" which leads me to believe my Admin2 account does not have the credentials restart the service.

here is the command Ineed to run "/opt/nortel/3rd_party/security/current_s1is/swmgmt/bin/pctrl_s1is.sh restart"

AB,

You do have a root account. Typically we use the same password for root as we do admin2.

In the process of checking with vendor to see if they have the credentials. I have only been here a short time and don't have the complete history of the CS1000 system and it's maintenance. Thanks for your help!!
