Dear Forum,

Is it possible to apply some sort of "label" to a section of text?

My company uses MS Word for documentation and each document is referring to a number of other documents.

What I would like to achieve is a way of finding out which documents are referring to a certain document.

Is it possible to apply some sort of label to each reference, and then merge all these "labels" together as a property with a macro. (sorry if this is jibberisch, ...truth is I don´t know how I can solve this).

Through a third party software I have the possibility to perform searched in the property field of documents, so I I somehow can gather all references in a document in a single property, this would help.

Open Word's help and read about bookmarks.

I think they will make you happy.

Bookmarks = A beautiful thing.

Well, I guess technically, they'd be "beautiful things."

And Concordances [wink]

Really don't mind if you sit this one out. My word's just a whisper, your deafness a SHOUT!

In terms of the posed question, absolutely, bookmarks do exactly what you seem to be asking.

However, it may (or may not) be a bit more complicated depending on how you are referencing the other documents.

"My company uses MS Word for documentation and each document is referring to a number of other documents."

HOW is it referring to other documents? By what method? Hyperlinks perhaps?

Thanks,

I guess I will have to check out bookmarks.

As to the question "HOW is it referring to other documents? By what method? Hyperlinks perhaps? ", until now it only a textual reference. (i.e. no real link).
