how can i manage a 3300SM 3com switch via telnet?
it needs an ip address of vlan 1?
or just needs an ip address of the subnet at which is attached?
or something different that is.....

To use telnet to manage a 3300 just enter the IP of the switch in the connect menu in Telnet. Make sure you are on the same subnet (ie you can ping the switch). It is somewhat easier to point your brower at it though. All this just makes me wonder if this is really the question you wanted to ask.

Telnet to the switch with a null modem cable on COM1. Assign an IP address within the subnet on which the switch is attached. Once this is done use your web browser and point to "http:\\"IP address"".
I appologise if this is in anyway copndesending to your level of knowledge.
