I have sbc snet dsl and id like to have it downstirs which is hooked up now and upstairs 2 so i can have 2 computers on the web at the same time. my buddy said you could so how could i. do i get a router or what?

A router would do it. You could also use Internet Connection Sharing (this would require the 'gateway' machine to have 2 network cards).

smah was too nice. Get a router. A dsl router from a good SOHO company like d-Link, SMC, Linksys, etc. is now available after rebate for between $16 -$49.95 at your local computer store, or from on-line sites like Amazon.

Leave the modem and router on 24/7. Given current pricing for a dsl/cable enabled routers, it would be silly to suggest to you any other alternive way to share internet access.

Do not consider alternatives, use a hardware router.

so u plug the dsl lne nto the router and then put dsl cords to both ethernt cards

You use Cat5 or similar patch cords for ethernet, not phone cords to connect the computer. The DSL modem will use a regular phone cord to connect, and an ethernet cable to the router.

or, rather than running cable, you could get a wireless router and two wireless cards for the pc's.
