How can I get a CCNA, how much does it cost?

I live in the Chicago suburbs.

Step 1: Study. Lots of study.

Step 2: Sit the exam, which in New Zealand costs $240 (sorry, no idea what it costs in USA)

$125 in the US for the exam. You have to register with either a Prometric ( or VUE ( test center. The exam is on a computer, but not really considered online.

techkiwi is right...lots and lots of study. Get some books, check Cisco's website for test objectives, and study some more.

good luck

oops..forgot...its $125 for the Intro and $125 for the ICND exams. Don't know how much the combined exam costs.

get some CBT training nuggets, they are the bis as they talk you through & then give you little tests, you can also get the CCNA in Ebook form

Remember if it doesn't work hit it harder

Also check CiscoPress for study books.

I personally prefer the Cisco books, as they tend to be very in-depth and cover the material thoroughly (although this is not always the case, especially with some of the CCNP books). Other people prefer Sybex or other publishers. Get down to your local technical bookshop and browse through them. Ask here if you're not sure which ones are good for you.

You will also need to get some hands-on experience with Cisco gear - either with simulators or the real stuff.
