I would like all my folders on my machine(s) to have the file contents sorted in date/time with the newest at top.
Often I navigate to a folder, and sometimes the contents are icons, sometimes just the file name. How can I show the details (sorted by newest).
Open up Windows Explorer and click on 'View' and select 'Details' on the context menu. Click 'View' again, move your cursor down to 'Arrange Icons by' and select 'Modified'. Now click the 'Date Modified' details header to arrange your list of files in ascending or descending order by date modified. (If you would like to add another detail to sort your list of folders by such as 'Date Created', select the 'Choose Details...' option under the 'View' context menu.) Once you have your folder view set to your liking, click on 'Tools' and select 'Folder Options...'. Click the 'View' tab on the 'Folder Options' dialog box and click the 'Apply to All Folders' button. This should make all of your folder views uniform.
Go Tools ->Choose Details and check the box next to "Date Modified". You can also select any other details that you want to show. Click OK and then click on Tools ->Folder Options... Select the View tab and click the "Apply to All Folders" button.
