I have a protected Director DXR file that I need to open in Director 8. The original DIR file was accidentally deleted and I need to modify the multimedia presentation stored in the DXR file. I am hoping there is a way to open the DXR file so I don't have to start over.

There is a way to open protected file though.
One thing is that you can never get the scripts and that's all.
For cast members, like graphics....things, well, there will all be there.
Look for an application call dirOpener. Try director web.
Use the app. to open protected file.
