I recently installed Netscape and when I did, it became my default browser. Now when I try and open a file from Windows Explorer, Netscape start. How can I change it back so that MIE opens the file?

Thanks

Try starting IE manually, then should ask if you want it to become the default.

I tried starting IE manually, but it doesn't ask. Any other suggestions?

You could try uninstalling netscape, then re-install and when asked if you wish to make netscape your default browser select "no".

Just thought of something else with regard to edfair suggestion.
on IE click tools> internet options> programs tab, make sure the box marked "Internet explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" is ticked (checked?).
Now restart IE manually.

from the internet explorer help file

"If you installed another Web browser after installing Internet Explorer and Internet Tools, some of your Internet Explorer settings may have changed. You can reset your Internet Explorer settings to their original defaults, including your home page and search pages, and choice of default browser, without changing your other browser's settings.

On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
Click the Programs tab.
Click the Reset Web Settings button. "

might work!

You were right on the money with this one
