How can I change the Key colour in pattern, art brushes

Can somebody can tell me, how to change the key colour in pattern brush options box. I clicked on the eyedropper tool then clicked on the right hand side colour swatch, but nothing comes after that.

Yes. It is the Key color.

Simply double click on a Scatter, Art or Pattern Brush to bring out the options dialog box.

In the lower left corner is the Key colour option, which I was not able to change.
