Howdy,

I want to change the default "Page cannot be displayed" when you go to a bad URL address. This is not a spy ware issue.

Ok, I am embarrassed that I have to ask this, but I can not figure out how to make the change in the registry. I thought I knew how.

How do you change in Internet Explorer 6 the default page "page cannot be displayed?"

Thank you!

bkonner,
Navigate to the desired page you wish to be your start page.
Click "Tools", "Internet Options" and then click "Use Current".
This will make the current page your default start page.
I hope this helps resolve your problem.
Please make a post and let us know how you made out.

bkonner,

In my initial post, I don't think I understood what you were trying to accomplish.
The "Page cannot be displayed" may be sent from the web server if the page actually cannot be displayed. (Server problems or the page may not exist any longer).
Treat this as a good notification.

You need a resource hacker utility.

Start ResHacker and load %windir%\system32\Shdoclc.dll

Under the 23 key goto HTTP_404.HTML. That is the default 404 error page.

Now all you need to do is create a new HTML page and insert it in here. (Overwrite the BODY of the HTML file, just in case.)
