I currently have a system that has been setup according to the Linux Kiosk HOWTO, and everything works great. We needed a machine that could only browse one area of our Intranet, and get nowhere else, and no settings could be changed. It reboots from cron nightly, and has been running like this for about 3 years no, with no problems.
I would like to take a "snapshot" of the current running system, not only for backup purposes, but I would also like to put it on a bootable CD, so that it could be used on any system with a CD drive, or without the need for a HD.
Has anyone come across any scripts that would help automate the process of taking the image of the system, and making a bootable ISO to burn to CD? It is currently 834MB in size, but I need to remove some uneeded packages to get it under the CD size limit.
The system itself is very minimal, using the 'twm' window manager, and an old netscape communicator browser, which is compatible with the area on the intranet that it is currently acessing.
Any links or tips would be appreciated!
TIA-
Bruce
