When the print button is pressed, we would like to send the report to a file with a name based on the userid/printdate/printtime. Does anyone know how to do this or if it can be done? We are currently on crystal v9.

The print button sends a report to the printer, not to a file. Do you want a print file because you're building some sort of print spooling, or?

The export button (envelope) performs an export and will prompt for the filename.

To override this, one would need to use an external process, such as a VB app, which means you'd need the Developer edition.

Crystal Enterprise might also handle this by writing some code.

The report that we want sent to a file is the batch audit. We only want them to be archived in case we need them. I don't want the operator to have to export them - too many steps. I heard that you can set up a "printer" that doesn't print but I still don't know how to pass the filename. Chelsea Tech has a user function that sounds like it might work. I'm waiting for more information from them.
